Homeopathy:
• Bryonia: if the spasms are made worse by any movement, or by local heat, better by lying still with knees bent.
• Chamomilla: especially good for colicky babies, or teething infants, the bloated abdomen tends to be improved by local warmth.
• Magnesia phosphorica: if warmth, pressure over the abdomen and walking about ease discomfort, but burping does not.
• Nux vomica: for colic brought on by over-eating or drinking alcohol; symptoms eased by sitting or lying down, and worse if upright. |
 |
Naturopathy:
•1-teaspoon juice of mint (phudina) given with a small quantity of powdered black pepper and honey relieves colic.
• 6 ounces water or infant formula, 1 teaspoon powdered savory, 1 teaspoon bruised dill seed. Heat water or formula to about 38°C. Add dill and savory. Let sit for 10 minutes. Strain. Reheat to use immediately or refrigerate for up to a few hours. Discard unused.
